People engage with games for a myriad of reasons. For those seeking an adrenaline rush, a vast array of survival horror titles await to induce a thrilling sense of fear. Conversely, for those craving a more frenetic pace, an impressive selection of first-person shooters and action-adventure games are available. Those who yearn for a deep, immersive fantasy narrative can delve into the captivating worlds of various role-playing games (RPGs) and adventure titles. However, what about those who prefer a more leisurely pace? What relaxing gaming experiences can cater to those seeking a tranquil, unhurried atmosphere?

There are a variety of relaxing games available. We could use puzzle games, farming games or simulation games. Games you can tackle at your own pace and not worry about a threat around the corner. So what could I suggest looking at?

Relaxing Games – A Small Selection

The question is where do we start? So let’s look at one we recently covered in a bit of depth.

Lightyear Frontier

This launched on PC and Xbox Series X/S in early access and was included in the game pass service. I finished the story for the early access and my thoughts can be found here. It was a game I could get lost in and has the potential to be one of the best in the genre. For me to stop playing major releases and play this and find time just drift by, speaks volumes

Minecraft

Why is a survival game relaxing you may ask. Well for one it has a creative mode. Though it’s that creative mode where you can drift away and pass the day away. Building a house can easily be a village. New ideas can hit and you try to see if they work. So before you know it, a single hour has turned into half a dozen hours.

House Flipper 2

The premise of the game is simple, you’re renovating houses. Though now you have much more scope and freedom than the original game. When you unlock the option to buy do up and sell with no objectives then the time can drift depending on how creative you end up being. It has more flexibility than the original game but some limits can potentially hinder creativity.

Cafe Owner Simulator

So you may or may not remember we looked at the prologue on PC in late 2022. Well, now the game is in full release, and also console owners get to play it. My full experience was on console and it was a game that meant time passed by without realising.

These are just some examples of games available now that you may not immediately think of. We have PowerWash Simulator, which has continually evolved with DLC but maintains that laid-back feel. There are also games like Stardew Valley which offer that laid-back feel-good vibe. Also, we all know about the Animal Crossing franchise as well. Meaning there are plenty of games to experience.
