Back in 2020 at the DC Fandome Event, we saw the announcement of Gotham Knights with development being handled by WB Montreal. WB Montreal previously did work on Arkham Origins instead of Rocksteady who at the time was working on Arkham Knight.
For those who have not been keeping up, here is a synopsis of the upcoming title:
Batman is dead. A new expansive, criminal underworld has swept the streets of Gotham City. It is now up to the Batman Family; Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin; to protect Gotham, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history to defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, you must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save the streets from descent into chaos.
Gotham Knights is an open-world, action RPG set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet. In either solo-play or with one other hero, patrol Gotham’s five distinct boroughs and drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it.
The State Of Gotham Knights Today
After a delay, it’s penciled in to launch on the 25th of October. We see PC listed as well as all PlayStation and Xbox consoles as launch platforms. However, a recent game rating listing means the consoles getting the game is now an interesting talking point. The site in question is a rating site for Taiwan and it’s the search results that provide some rather interesting reading.
They have rated the game ahead of its October launch as we see above. Looking closer at the listing we see it listed for this generation of consoles, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. However, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, we see no listing. Since the content is the same, it would make sense the rating would be the same. Unless it’s no longer coming to those platforms. Yet the official website indicates it is. Eurogamer reported a rumored beta which was briefly listed on Steam. If one appears then that could be a huge indication of where this launches. However, until we hear from Warner Bros officially, everything is still a rumor.
