Dive Into Psychological Horror: Discover Pneumata’s Thrilling Release on PS5

Pneumata

As we prepare for October, Deadbolt Interactive has finally released the horror title Pneumata. Pneumata is now available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. The Steam description tells us to “prepare to question what is reality and what is insanity” in this psychological horror. However, let’s concentrate on the essence of the game. We play a detective who finds himself in Clover Hill, where the tenants are disappearing. The full description informs us that we must “unravel the truth that lays within and recover your fragmented memories.” The game itself is a hybrid of both survival and psychological horror.

Pneumata Gameplay

If you’re interested in learning more about this game, we’ve included some footage below. The gameplay is from the early portion of the game, and we captured all the footage on a PlayStation 5.

Pneumata looks really good, but it also isn’t the most stunning example of a game in Unreal Engine 5. However, the official website does provide some insight into the development. In reality, a single developer creates the game. Gameplay is smooth and fairly simple. Combat seems fairly simple, though not as fluid as we see in recent Resident Evil games. However, it’s encouraging to see smaller teams tackling the genre with titles such as Maid of Sker, Hollow Body, Reveil, Pine Harbor, and Stray Souls, even though some didn’t quite reach their intended heights. The game’s eerie atmosphere and predominantly dark environment work in tandem to heighten the player’s fear of the unknown. Overall, it looks like a promising start, at least for the PlayStation 5 release.
