Look I have responsibilieries (Rugrats Reference) now. Kids, jobs, bills, and other adulting responsibilities that I had no idea came with the freedom of maturity when I was younger. Back to the title point, Turn-Based RPGs have been there to save the gaming portion of my life. Without turn-based games, I would be getting kicked out of multiplayer lobbies each time a diaper needs changing. And don’t get me started on the struggle of playing souls games while trying to rock your little one to sleep.
Now I understand the health safety and welfare of your little person comes first. But you have to continue having a life, mine just so happens to include gaming.
So for those who don’t know according to Wiki.
Now, of course, there are different variations of that and for me, I enjoy the Turn Based Tactical RPGs. Titles such as Disgaea and XCOM are perfect examples of the genre. What makes them so perfect is the action is at your pace. You can be in the middle of a grand battle and your kid walks in and steps in front of the screen to ask for the toy that’s in their hand and it wouldn’t mess it up at all. Yes, quick resume and pausing do exist for a lot of other games but often it will take you out of the moment. But with Turn Based games the action only happens when you make it happen.
Turn-Based RPGs Are Clearly Not For Everyone
Clearly, these games are not for everyone. They often have a lot of dialogue that is not voice acted and some people just want fast-paced action in the games they play. I get it, but if you want a game that can be enjoyed regardless of random interruptions. Tactical RPGs are one of the best choices out there. So if you are into defending Earth from aliens go play the XCOM series. Looking to live out a fantasy life of adventure go pick up Divinity Original Sin. Or if you want to go from a snowball fight to fighting a God go play Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. There are plenty of universes to choose from.
