Not that long ago we were talking about the upcoming Bethesda game Redfall. It’s an open-world stealth action first-person shooter that can be played either solo or co-op. You’ll face off against enemies of a human or vampire variety. It’s developed by Arkane so if you have played Prey or the Dishonoured series of games you will be very much familiar with the studio’s game style. So with it being Bethesda, it will launch on Game Pass at launch. When we talked about this, we discussed if it was the game for you. The benefit of Game Pass means you can try it out at no extra cost.
Since Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media they also acquired Bethesda making Redfall the first major game to launch solo on Xbox following that acquisition. Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo, which was released last year, launched on PlayStation first. Deathloop arrived on Xbox a year later and if Tangos horror follows the same path, Ghostwire Tokyo will do similar next month. So something regarding Redfall is interesting especially when we read through the games FAQ. Could we be seeing a trend from future Bethesda titles? Or have we seen a change of heart from the studio?
What Is Interesting About Redfall
Like most games, it will also get a physical release. Originally when Pure Xbox reported this story they highlighted that a physical copy has no disc just a download code. They posted that the “physical Xbox copies of Redfall are Xbox Play Anywhere codes which can played on both the Xbox Series X|S and the Microsoft Xbox App on PC”.
I looked later at the link provided and saw completely different information.
The physical retail version of the Redfall Xbox standard edition does come with a Blu-Ray disc. The Bite Back Upgrade can be purchased separately. Within the Bite Back Upgrade, you will find a code that grants you the Bite Back Upgrade in-game items. Owners of the Xbox physical version of Redfall who wish to buy the Bite Back Upgrade can do so either digitally or at participating retailers.
The physical retail version of the PC version does not come with a disc of the game. The Xbox standard edition is the only SKU that provides players with a physical disc of the game.
Which is very different from the original report. One other we know is, this like all other first-party titles for Series X/S will sell for $69.99. This was confirmed by Microsoft to IGN.
