Square Enix has a brand new IP that is releasing this September. Not only did they announce the new title they even put out a playable demo. It is downloadable on each platform the game will launch on. After completing the demo here is my early impression of The DioField Chronicle Demo.

Once again this is a completely new world from the publisher that is known for making top-tier RPGs. The Island country of DioField holds a resource that is key to winning a great war. Now on top of infighting two other forces are planning to invade to harvest the resource to win their own war. You take control of Andrias Rhondarson, strategist and deadly dagger wielder. As part of the four heads of the Blue Foxes who control a mercenary unit protecting DioField.

A deep and immersive story brought to life with the latest graphics. “Real Time Tactical Battle” (RTTB), a new, highly strategic, real-time battle system. The birth of a new SRPG, crafted by a skilled and experienced development team.

The gameplay offers a new spin on strategy RPGs. The real-time battle system that has gives you the ability to direct all your soldiers at once or even individually. The combat seems simple at first but you can quickly find yourself low on health and outnumbered. Each character has its own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. You have a calvary knight, assassin, mage, and an archer. You can only have four units at a time so often you will be outnumbered. This means you will be making constant strategic adjustments on the go.

You can see the first few hours of gameplay below. The demo covers the entire first chapter of the game and the save file will carry over when the game officially releases. I had over three hours of gameplay and there is even an in-game system that allows replayability.
