E3, the annual summer event that featured major game and hardware reveals from companies such as Ubisoft, EA, Microsoft, and Sony, was a familiar spectacle to many. However, everything changed in the spring of 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic caused widespread lockdowns and disruptions to daily life. This had a significant impact on various industries, including game and movie production, as well as sporting events. As a result, the usual E3 showcase was canceled, and the world was forced to adjust to a new normal.
We had online events such as the Summer Games Fest, Sony’s State of Play, and Ubisoft Forward. Only recently did fans get to return to Gamescom. E3 as we knew it last appeared in 2019. However, it will launch in a revamped format as we know this year. This year it takes from 13th June for four days. The first two are exclusively for businesses. Consumers join on 15th June which is day three and the final day is dedicated to consumers. Though even with this Yves Guillemot isn’t convinced
What The Ubisoft CEO Has Said
According to an article by VGC, Guillemot seems uncertain about the likelihood of E3. He said that if E3 happens, then Ubisoft will be present. He adds the company has “a lot of things to show”. Games that could appear would include
- Prince Of Persia Sands of Time Remake
- The Crew Motorfest
- Skull and Bones
- Avatar Frontiers of Pandora
- The return of Splinter Cell
- The Star Wars project
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage
That won’t be all as we know Assassins Creed has stuff going on and we may have projects yet to be revealed. Other games that could feature in regard to potential new content would be titles like Rainbow Six Siege. We know that Sony and Nintendo aren’t going to be involved and Microsoft won’t be taking the stage either.
