It’s a good week for fans of fantasy games. Firstly we have the news Elden Ring has gone gold after a previous month-long delay. Now we have something interesting on the horizon from a new developer. This developer has some pedigree and is of a high standard to boot. As for the game, it’s called Gord.
The project is being published by Team 17 and developed by Covenant. Stan Just is now in charge of this studio of a few dozen experienced developers. If his name rings a bell, he was one of the producers on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. So we should all be familiar with that game and how well it has been executed. At the time of writing, we were still waiting for the upgrade for that and the other CD Projekt Red RPG in Cyberpunk 2077.
What Gord Is About
It’s an upcoming PC release. It’s a strategy-based game with a dark fantasy theme. The official description is as follows.
Lead the people of the Tribe of the Dawn as they venture deep into forbidden lands. Complete quests that shape their personalities, impact their wellbeing, and decide the fate of their community. Ensure the survival of your populace in a grim fantasy world inspired by Slavic folklore.
So if you think of Frostpunk you will get a feel for the style of gameplay. The heart of the game draws inspiration from Slavic folklore. If we browse the official website we see aspects of the game that will include city building, various quests and events, a sanity system, and other features.
