In case you missed the recent Bethesda news, here’s a summary: a new trailer was shown followed by an announcement from Todd Howard regarding the release date of Starfield. The game is now set to be released on September 6th, which is the first confirmed date since it was delayed from its original November release date last year. Additionally, there will be a deep dive on June 11th during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase for E3 Digital. However, there is more news regarding the upcoming RPG.
According to GameInfinitus, there is some noteworthy information about the release of Starfield. Australian gamers may be particularly interested, as the game has been given a Restricted rating by the Australian Classification Board. This is due to the game featuring “moderate impact” language and themes, “strong impact” violence, “very mild impact” nudity, and “restricted” interactive drug use.
Could This Affect The Starfield Release
It’s unclear if this will affect the release date but games have been banned in Australia for this reason. For example Disco Elysium was banned initially. Additionally, DayZ was also banned. Though to get the game rated in Australia, Bohemia Interactive had to make changes that would affect the game’s content globally. So we’ve seen a few cases which show how strict Australia is in terms of drug use in games. Bethesda has faced issues with Australian ratings before. Back in 2008, Fallout 3 was banned before finally being made available.
Hopefully it’s a less severe case for Starfield and Bethesda don’t need to make huge changes or delay things regarding the release. However there is still some time before the game launches.
