Sniper Elite: Resistance Coming Early 2025

It’s been quite some time since we last discussed the Sniper Elite franchise. We last discussed the Sniper Elite franchise approximately two and a half years ago, when we shared the release news for Sniper Elite 5. However, we have a new entry to the franchise coming next year, and this time we have a new lead character in the series. In previous games, we played as Karl Fairburne, but the new game introduces us to Harry Hawker. Now let me introduce Sniper Elite: Resistance and its gameplay.

Despite the addition of a new playable lead character, the core elements that define Sniper Elite remain unchanged. Therefore, Sniper Elite: Resistance should appeal to fans of the series. Developer Rebellion explained why we have a new main character. This new release will run “parallel with Sniper Elite 5”. Not only that, but it “turns the attention towards the hidden war, far from the front lines, deep within the heart of occupied France.”. Harry Hawker, an agent in the Special Operations Executive (SOE), becomes the focal point of the story. The story unfolds as follows:

Intel has revealed powerful and deadly weapons known to the Axis as the Wunderwaffe. An arsenal of this magnitude could surely turn the tide of the war in their favour. You will be required to seek out key Axis targets and work together with the French Resistance to destroy the Wunderwaffe once and for all.

Sniper Elite: Resistance Features And Release Information

The announcement post by Rebellion detailed the features we can look forward to in the game. These are as follows:

Weapons of warfare

Players will get to grips with an authentic arsenal of World War II weaponry, featuring fan favorites as well as new additions.

Once reunited with their ideal loadout, players can head to one of the work benches scattered around the campaign map in order to customize their rifles, secondaries, and pistols to their specifications.

The visceral X-ray kill cam and advanced gunplay physics return, demonstrating the unmatched destructive power of every one of your signature shots.

Become the Resistance

Propaganda Missions are a brand-new style of side mission to the series.

Throughout the campaign, discover unique propaganda posters that will allow players to step into the shoes of a French Resistance fighter. With time-sensitive objectives, players must sneak, snipe, and shoot, taking down enemies under certain conditions to complete their mission.

Axis Invasion

Axis Invasion returns to Sniper Elite: Resistance with more campaign-halting escapades. Watch as opponents scour the map in fear of attack. Strike when your enemies least expect it, utilizing weapons and equipment to full effect. Whether you go all guns blazing or adopt a more stealthy approach, only one will emerge victorious in their campaign.

Call upon your squad and head onto the battlefield ready for combat with our returning online multiplayer modes. Whether you choose the chaos of Deathmatch and No Cross or the wave-based tactics of Survival, you can engage in plenty of scope-based carnage. Battle it out with up to 16 players until a champion emerges.

When The Game Is Available And What Platforms

The platforms include PC, Xbox Series X/S, and both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will also be available on day one as part of Game Pass. Additionally, pre-orders are currently available for all platforms, and you can find all the links here. As of this writing, the Epic Store is the only one without a pre-order available. With that in mind, you would expect to have a release date. We can confirm that the game will launch on the 30th of January, as depicted in the trailer below.
