We have seen numerous games delayed either due to the scope of the project being big. A recent example of that is the much-maligned Six Days in Fallujah. However we have also seen pandemic related delays in the case of Saints Row. But it’s nice if albeit rare to see the opposite happening. This is exactly the story with the next release by developer Sloclap. The game in question is Sifu.
They previously gave us Absolver and now have their martial arts game Sifu heading our way. So for those after this, it’s coming to PC as well as both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The new release date may be a blessing in disguise. Originally due to launch on the 22nd February, it was coming up against the new Destiny 2 expansion also on that day. However, it would be faced up with Elden Ring which is due out on the 25th of February, and Horizon Forbidden West on the 18th. Pretty intense competition from big names. Though they still have Dying Light 2 on the 4th of February to face
The new release information and game details
So instead of a pretty intense period for gamers, there is some relief with Sifu now launching on February 8th. Feel free to look at the game’s website for more information closer to launch. Recently, the game’s combat got a deeper dive in a post on the PlayStation Blog by their marketing manager Felix Garczynski. It seems that pretty intense month was partially the reason for the earlier release. In PC Gamer we have the statement from Sloclap and where they have brought the release “ahead of an incredibly big month for highly anticipated AAA releases.”
We have made good progress on getting our game ship-ready and we are excited to be able to launch Sifu two weeks earlier than anticipated.Sifu will launch a little sooner than anticipated.
As for the game, it’s a martial arts-focused third-person action game. This follows the story of a young student who sets out on a journey of revenge after his family was murdered. There is also magic to add as for a period of time of you die you become older on your regeneration. That is until you can’t be revived again.
What do you think of this news? Don’t forget we still have huge titles with a release date yet to be given. All of these could very well launch in this period. These include the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Ghostwire Tokyo, and the Lord of the Rings: Gollum release.
