All this talk about remakes, remasters, what is out, and what is coming made me go back in time and revisit a game I thought needed a remake, as well – Dino Crisis. And it’s not just old man Darrell yelling at clouds and asking for a remake. There are thousands of fans around the world who want the same. CAPCOM has blessed us with a hefty amount of Resident Evil remakes in recent years. But what about Dino Crisis? Will it ever get the remake the fans are asking for?
Are you a fan of the franchise yourself? Then we might have some good news in store for you. We just want to mention the news is not coming from CAPCOM, but rather another passionate player like you and me. What have they said exactly? You guessed it: they’re working on a fan remake. You can take a look at how far they’ve come so far in the trailer footage below.
What Can We Expect From This Dino Crisis Remake?
An article from Dark Side of Gaming tells us “Stefano Cagnani has been working on a fan remake of Dino Crisis in Unreal Engine 5”. And they’re not alone. Aside from releasing a playable demo, they also link other unofficial projects from fans. If you’ve been waiting for a long time for a remake or news of it, you might want to check their project over here. This is what Stefano Cagnani had to say about this remake:
READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING:
This project is purely inspired by the original 1999 game, but it does not represent a full-remake. I’m a big fan of the first Dino Crisis game, I tried to convey all the atmosphere and horror of the original in a modernized fashion!
I hope you like it. As a solo-developer it’s difficult to do something really noteworthy, but this small/big work makes me somehow proud of how far I’ve come with personal progress in video game development. It is an important milestone for me that I want to share with you with this award, which is made for the fans, but above all as a personal demonstration.
You can do anything you want when there is passion at the base.
We have very little information about its PC requirements so far. All we know is it was tested on their “old PC” which they state the specifications were “i7 with a GeForceRTX-1050Ti (with 4gb) and 16gb of RAM”. They said it worked very well, but that doesn’t help much in terms of explanations, does it? And if you’re a console player, things are still up in the air unless CAPCOM will revisit the franchise. We can only hope that projects like this one will remind them that people liked the original, people want a remake, and there’s potential for them to do business here.
