One of the most promising upcoming titles on Xbox Series X/S is STALKER 2. A game that was long-awaited by fans of the franchise. This is currently in development by GSC Game World and was due next month until they announced back in January it would be delayed until December. Moreover, GSC Game World has been in the news again.
For those unaware GSC Game World was one of the first gaming companies to speak out over the recent events we are seeing in Ukraine. They posted on Twitter asking for help for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Now, the studio came out with more on the situation and how this affects STALKER 2.
What GSC Game World have done
They uploaded a video that highlighted the current danger in Ukraine. So with the studio being based in Kyiv they have paused the development of STALKER 2. This allows them to focus on more important matters. As a result, the studio is focusing on its employees and their families. As much as we as gamers don’t like seeing delays, the situation in Ukraine is far more important, and keeping people safe must always be a priority.
They said the following in the video.
“This video is our answer to ‘How are you guys?’ question. Now we are striving to help our employees and their families to survive. The game development shifted to the sidelines. But we will definitely continue. After the victory. Glory to Ukraine”
Naturally, meeting that December release date is far from the studio’s minds now. Especially when based in the Ukrainian capital which is facing heavy bombardment from Russian forces. Hopefully, the next we hear from the developers is they have resumed work on STALKER 2. In the meantime, all we can do is hope and pray for those affected. This includes the staff and families of those connected to GSC.
