So are you done with Elden Ring and its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion? Are you after a new Souls-like experience? We have a few coming such as the likes of Enotria: The Last Song. Though if you want something a little different then we have something that may just be right up your alley. Well first off let’s tell you what the game is and when we can expect to see it. The game is Deathbound and on the 8th of August, it will arrive on PC and current-gen consoles.
So what makes Deathbound different from other titles in its genre? And to be fair we have had a nice selection release recently. Games like Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen. However, none of these offer a party-based experience. A game where we can according to the press release “transform between fallen warriors”. It also tells us we can “form alliances with fallen warriors using the innovative 4-hero party system and band together to defeat appalling creatures and enemies”.
What We Can Tell You About Deathbound
The same press release tells us the following about this unique Soulslike experience.
Deathbound is a party-based soulslike set in a harsh world where Faith clashes with Science. You cannot survive alone; instead, you must refuse Death and embrace Ziêminal by bonding with fallen warriors encountered on your journey. Using a dynamic 4-hero party system, seamlessly transform between characters mid-combat to ensure survival. Success hinges on working together with your comrades, each possessing their own skills, combat techniques, and backstory.
The dynamics between these characters significantly impact gameplay, leading to different outcomes and status effects depending on your actions. For instance, aligning characters from the Church of Death and Cult of Life – two opposing factions within the vessel – will cause conflict and result in consequential combat effects. Alternatively, pairing fallen warriors with similar beliefs can lead to powerful combat buffs, perfect for taking down relentless foes along the way.
Despite their differences, the fallen must unite in combat. By charging a shared sync meter during battles, you can unleash a devastating Morphstrike combining the party’s strength, crucial for overcoming deadly adversaries.
The game is in the hands of Trialforge Studio. They are a small studio from Brazil. The studio is a 20-person team and the price upon launch is expected to be $29.99 USD / €29.99. Though now for the game features.
- The Essence – Gain the skills, memories, and identities of fallen warriors worldwide. Combine their unique personalities and combat styles and switch between them seamlessly.
