We have the Resident Evil 4 remake due very soon. The original is much loved as was an earlier title in the series Code Veronica. Resident Evil 4 will launch on 24th March. Meaning we are about three months away from the game’s launch. This remake follows the recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Both of these were also upgraded to take advantage of the new generation consoles. Even earlier back Capcom remade the original Resident Evil.

With all these fans are still hoping and praying for Code Veronica to also be remade. However, the official stance from Capcom is “there are no concrete plans to develop Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake, but if the “opportunity comes, maybe.”. In the meantime, there is a fan remake that was confirmed on Twitter. This was an upcoming free remake and the developer also remade in the same style as Resident Evil. The demo started prior to the outbreak and I’ve had a chance to play it and the promise is indeed there.

Code Veronica Remake Update.

The developer then announced suddenly this week that Capcom has shut both the remakes down. Both of them were going to be free so they weren’t profiting off the games.

This is not the first time Capcom shut down a fan remake either. A while ago a fan remake of Resident Evil 2. The developer were asked to stop working on it and soon after Resident Evil 2 remake was announced. That game turned into Daymare 1998 and it seems some of the fan remakes inspired parts of the official remake. This recent cancellation seems more interesting when you look at the timing.

Could Capcom Have News On The Way

Now it seems the chance to have some sort of remake of this much-loved title is less likely. However, we see the developer claim Capcom knew of the remake. If they had problems, why has it taken so long? This remake has been known for some time. So you would expect Capcom to pick up on this well before now. For example, I’ve known about this fan remake for several months. As always what do you think about this news? Why not get in touch and share your thoughts?
