August 2024 is another month aiming to beat up gamer’s wallets. From Mobile to PC there is definitely something for every type of gamer releasing next month. Soulslikes, roguelikes, ports, and even a game about a gun-toting squirrel will be available so open up your wallets and prepare your wishlist.
August 1st – 15th
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
Dead or alive is the only question that matters to a bounty hunter. And in Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, you take on the role of Jango Fett in a third-person action-adventure game with the goal of hunting down Dark Jedi. This remaster, developed and published by Aspyr and launching on August 1, will also include the ability to play as Boba Fett after you cash in all bounties first.
Volgarr the Viking II (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC)
Precision is the key element in this unforgiving 2D action platformer. It has been 10 years since the first title and with Volgarr the Viking II there will be quality-of-life options that allow the player to make your journey as punishing as you want it to be. Developed and published by Digital Eclipse, Volgarr the Viking II will launch on August 6, look forward to pain and failure being your guiding light in this title.
Deathbound (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)
Trialforge Studio developed a way to fuse a party system with soulslike mechanics and created Deathbound. Fallen warriors from both sides of a war between science and faith share one vessel to stop the destruction of Ziêminal. You will fight unforgiving enemies that are the physical embodiment of the five stages of grief while using the skills and abilities of The Fallen that make up your party. Releasing on August 8, prepare to experience a new take on soulslikes by playing the Deathbound demo available now via Steam.
August 16th – 30th
Madden 25 (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC)
Will EA make lightning strike twice this year with the release of Madden 25, featuring San Francisco 49ers Christian McCaffrey on this year’s cover? Developed and published by EA EA will release Madden 25 following the return of college football to gaming. The new BOOM Tech tackling system is supposed to create a more immersive pro football gameplay experience. Releasing August 15, prepare to dominate the NFL in the franchise, Ultimate Team, and staple online Head-to-Head modes.
Black Myth: Wukong (PC, PS5)
Black Myth: Wukong brings to life the mythical tale of Journey to the West and the story of Sun Wukong. Developed and published by Game Science, this action RPG has you controlling the destined one, Sun Wukong, and fight legendary enemies with fast-paced combat and a variety of magic. Wukong’s journey begins on August 20, and you can wishlist it on Steam or preorder Black Myth: Wukong on the PlayStation Store.
Concord (PC, PS5)
The new 5v5 character-driven first-person shooter, Concord, developed by Firewalk Studios and published by PlayStation Studios, will be launching on August 23. At a price point of $39.99, this team-based shooter puts you in the shoes of a gun for hire, fighting other mercenary crews across different game modes.
Visions of Mana (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC)
The story of the sacred sword and mana continues with the latest entry, Visions of Mana. Developed and published by Square Enix, this party-based action RPG is set in a vast semi-open world. You will be able to customize your playstyle with different classes and characters. The combat is three-dimensional and will require some strategic planning. There is currently a demo available on all platforms so you can see if you will want to go all in with Visions of Mana on August 29.
Star Wars Outlaws (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)
Developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, Star Wars Outlaws is the first open-world Star Wars game. As a scoundrel, you will be exploring iconic worlds and navigating the galactic underbelly of the Star Wars universe. On August 30, as Kay Vess, alongside your companion Nix, you are going to fight, steal, and outwit your way to freedom and infamy.
