Adr1ft – An Adventure Worth Another Look?

Do you want an adventure game with a bit of a difference? How would you like some survival in it as well as a feeling of being isolated and having no way home? Then Adr1ft may be your thing. The game sees you as an astronaut so you can imagine you’re in a very unforgiving environment if you’re trapped and alone. After all the reaches of space are as far from home as you can get. So let’s look deeper into the story

Adr1ft you play as an astronaut. Not an unusual role in a narrative-based adventure. One other example is Deliver us the Moon. Or to some extent a slightly less realistic take with Moons of Madness. With this game, you play an astronaut who wakes up floating in space. All you have by you is debris from a destroyed space station. You have no idea what happened, a suit leaking oxygen and no way home.

Is Adr1ft Worth A Look Today

It has over 1000 reviews on Steam with mixed reviews. All the footage here is from PlayStation 5 running it via backward compatibility. A video of some gameplay is found below.

It’s not easy to just pick up and play and navigating the vast reaches of space can be tricky. Though with practice it will soon be easy to pick up. There is a story in here but you uncover it as you go along. For an early PlayStation 4-era title the visuals are impressive. An update of some kind to support the PlayStation 5 even to increase the frame rate would be nice.
