Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Fails To Take Off On Launch Day

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Microsoft’s next big title launched yesterday. Emphasis on “launched”, since we’re talking about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. We mentioned not too long ago that the game has been streamlined so it takes up less space on hard drives than its predecessors. We also took a look at the new changes made by the developers at Asobo. But now the game is finally here for everyone to enjoy. Or so you might think…

I checked the game earlier yesterday and was surprised to see only 330 MB for the file size. Not quite the 50 GB we were expecting. Other users reported on Twitter about the mismatch, as well. Now the game sits on my Xbox Series X taking up 28 GB of space. Still better than the 50 gigs they initially mentioned.

Alrighty. Enough chat about file sizes. How does the game actually run?

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 On Xbox – Does This Thing Work?

I got my hands on the game 30 minutes after its launch yesterday. Went to My Games And Apps and clicked on the tile for t Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Then got an error message. Perfect start, right? I went to check the Game Pass section and launched it from there – this time, successfully. But I got stuck at 97% loading screen for quite a while. I went to do something else around the house while it finished that last 3%. But no luck. Nothing changed after two hours of waiting time. Advice on Twitter mentioned that we should reboot the game. So rebooting is what I did.

But that didn’t help either. I got stuck at 0% while waiting for the languages to load. And it seems many other folks went through this frustrating experience according to Pure Xbox, plus many other issues. I still can’t access the game at the time you’re reading this and I’m stuck in a log-in queue with the rest of the poor souls who want to play the game. Not the best start for a first-party release, is it?
