Live-action adaptations of anime are known to be hit or miss. However, the recent success of the One Piece live-action has given many hope. That’s not remembering others like Battle Angel Alita, Rurouni Kenshin, Kaiji the Gambler, Gintama, and others. Yet there is one that’s still coming this year that many millennial anime fans, myself included, are excited about. That’s the Yu Yu Hakusho live-action coming this winter.

You will be forgiven if you don’t remember this adaptation as it was announced way back in 2020. It started filming in the summer of 2021. However, while we do not have a concrete solid date yet the following has been seen on Netflix’s site showing a December release.

Now this has been exciting ever since the first tease of some of anime’s most stylish boys of the shounen genre made their reveal. With a story that still holds up to this day. For those unaware Yu Yu Hakusho, also known as Spirit Detective, is one of the earliest animes during the 2000s that is attributed to helping anime become huge in the West. Alongside other series like Dragonball Z, Bleach, Naruto, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and several others.

Many of which still are running to this day or got adaptations or in the case of Trigun, a retelling for newer fans. The Yu Yu Hakusho live-action has much to live up to following One Piece’s success. But for fans, the hype is definitely there, along with the hesitation.

Tell us are you excited for the Yu Yu Hakusho live-action coming this winter, or do you not care? Did you watch the original anime or is this your first experience with the series, let us know down below!
