Xbox Series S Wins Big This Black Friday!

Small in Size, Huge in Sales

Xbox’s smaller console the Xbox Series S has seen great success this past Black Friday. As it has outsold the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and even its bigger more powerful version, the Xbox Series X. So let’s take a little look into how this outcome could have come about.

Availability

The Xbox Series S is an all-digital system that is not as powerful as its big brother the Xbox Series X. So what could this mean? Well the amount of components it takes to build on Xbox Series S is less than what it would take to build either the Series X or the PlayStation 5. Giving the Xbox brand the opportunity to manufacture more systems with fewer resources. Getting these consoles out and onto store shelves is key as it puts the product right in front of the consumer without having to deal with potential scalpers.

Price

The Xbox Series S is the cheapest out of all the current-gen systems and even $50 cheaper than the Nintendo Switch OLED. With the Xbox Series S being sold at $299 it is an easy sell for any parent looking for a new system for their kid this holiday season. Or even consumers looking to start out and get into the Xbox ecosystem. When you pair the Xbox Series S with Xbox Game Pass any user is set with tons of games to play right at the start of their journey with the platform.

Big Releases and Xbox Game Pass

Xbox for the past few years has been known to lack in first-party content. But with Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite launching within a month from each other. Each of these titles has already seen huge success with Forza Horizon 5 toppling over 11 million players since its early access release at the start of the month, and Halo Infinite’s Multiplayer Beta surprise drop for Xbox’s 20yr Anniversary. These two titles put Xbox back onto the map in a big way and more people are starting to notice that. Pair these titles with third-party releases into Xbox Game Pass and there really is not a better deal out there in gaming right now.

Next-Gen Features in a Smaller box

While we know the Xbox Series S, is the least powerful home console out of them. It still packs quite a punch and has a lot of features that you would find in a Next-Gen system. Although it is a smaller 512GB SSD, you still will see all the perks in this system that you would find in the Series X or PlayStation 5. The Series S has Quick Resume, faster loading times, FPS Boost, and tons of games that can run at 60FPS or even up to 120FPS. Even with the system being capped at a resolution of 1440p it can still do 4K upscaling when possible.

So I leave this question to you the reader. Were you able to pick up a new system this weekend? If so what were you able to grab? Did you pick up an Xbox Series S and if so, why did you? That’s all for me folks! Until next time, happy gaming!
