Last year, there was a notable transformation in PlayStation’s subscription services. Previously, users had the option to subscribe to PlayStation Plus and the streaming service PlayStation Now separately. However, these services were later merged, resulting in the introduction of three tiers for PlayStation Plus: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Meanwhile, Xbox Live Gold, Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate remained unaffected during that time. However, a recent announcement indicates forthcoming changes later this year, introducing a new service known as Xbox Game Pass Core.
So, what exactly is Xbox Game Pass Core? According to information provided by Xbox Wire, starting from September 14th, it will essentially replace the existing Xbox Live Gold service. However, this transition entails more than just a name change within a few weeks. The announcement clarifies that the new Core service represents the “evolution of Xbox Live Gold.” For a monthly fee of $9.99 or an annual fee of $59.99, subscribers will gain access to an advanced multiplayer network, an exclusive collection of over 25 games to enjoy with friends worldwide, and exclusive member deals.
