Today is a landmark day for the Xbox team as Xbox finalizes ABK deal team in the UK. This year has been turbulent for the astronomical deal for the Call of Duty publisher at the amount of almost 70 Billion dollars. This was heralded by a major roadblock earlier this year as the CMA had previously denied the acquisition. However, this saga has now hit its end.
Announced early in the morning this past Friday the news came from Phil Spencer himself. He goes on to state that it’s a great day in gaming as their long-believed vision and goal had been achieved. He wrote an entire official statement on the Xbox news site.
All in all, what this breaks down to, is that with the clearing of the CMA as a hurdle; The Xbox team was finally able to officially close their deal to acquire the publisher. This is despite the ongoing attempts by the US’s FTC to continue suing over the deal, despite twice being blocked. This gives the console maker, access to a plethora of a back catalog of games published by the giant.
Most notably this includes:
- Call of Duty
- Crash Bandicoot
- Spyro the Dragon
- Tony Hawks Pro Skater
- Sekiro
- Warcraft
- Starcraft
- Diablo
- Overwatch
- Candy Crush
- And More
The Teams Thoughts:
Not this is just a small snippet of many games under the umbrella. Not counting the old spider man games such as Web of Shadows, or the Transformers games, like Fall of Cybertron. However, one of the biggest points of this deal is the better working conditions for the many employees who had potentially suffered due to the working conditions previously reported.
The CCO or Communications officer, Lulu Cheng Meservey, spoke out in excitement. Revealing the email that current CEO Bobby Kotick had sent to the team. simply stating their excitement to join the Xbox family. Also noting that Bobby will stay as CEO till the end of the year before leaving, directly reporting to Phil himself.
There is a lot to handle and many changes on the horizon for the publisher under its new umbrella. However, despite all that, the future looks bright now that Xbox finalizes ABK deal. So let us know down below what you all think now that this is all said and done. Are you excited for the future of Activision, what are your thoughts now that it is all over?
