Wind Peaks is a unique hidden object journey because it tells a little story. You are playing the game in a wildlife preserve called, Wind Peaks. You find a map with 4 of your friends and go on a secret adventure. If you haven’t figured it out by now I consider myself a cozy gamer and this game rates a 10 on my cozy scale.
The visuals inspired by, “Hilda and Gravity Falls,” according to Action Studios, are what I enjoyed the most. I love the monochromatic color scheme of the environment, which makes it a more relaxing game. These are the perfect games for when you want to unwind after a long day, with forest sounds and interactive puzzles that will definitely keep you busy.
The game has 10 episodes, each of which tells the amazing story of the 5 campers that can only be completed by finding all of the objects. This can be done by seeking out the object or by completing puzzles inside the game to uncover where the object is hidden, adding another layer of gameplay. I really enjoyed that while this is a hidden object game, it wasn’t your run-of-the-mill Where’s Waldo type of game. Certain items interact with each other in the game, making it a little more challenging than just finding all the tree branches to move to the next level.
One of the things I really like about this game is the hint feature. It made the game feel very accessible to me because they don’t have a limited amount of hints you can use they just put them on a timer. I haven’t figured out why some items require a longer countdown than others but it wasn’t an issue for me. While I was waiting for assistance from the hint I would look for items I felt were easier to identify.
On PlayStation, achieving completionist requires 14 trophies. It was doable for me without any additional research to unlock any hidden secret achievements, google any kind of walk-throughs, or throw my controller at the wall in a fit of rage. Just kidding I haven’t done that all of 2023. I did enjoy so many aspects of the game. The visuals and the gameplay are my top contenders because we all know I love a pretty game.
Official Game News
As I finished this game I instantly went to see if there was any news regarding an expansion pack and low and behold there was a whole announcement for Wind Peaks 2. It’s coming in the first quarter of 2023, and I am really excited about this. I know I am not to add any more games to my list but does it count if I played and finished its predecessor?
Tweet From Offical Wind Peaks
All in all, Wind Peaks is a really cute, cozy game that you can play with your kids or by yourself to unwind with a libation or 2. It was the perfect ending to 2022, as I was determined not to go into 2023 stressed out by anything. Work has been ripping me a new one daily and this was some much needed reprieve. Sometimes it is great to turn off the brain from the monotony and stressors of life.
I will begin working on my 2023 backlog and you can read about it here.
