Warhammer 40K is looking like it’s getting a big period coming up. We have after some delays a release on PC for Darktide. We still are awaiting the release of this for Xbox. When it does it be like the PC version be available on Game Pass day one? Then at the recent Game Awards, we had the announcement and world premiere of Space Marines 2 by Saber Interactive. If you missed the world premiere it can be seen below. This launches next year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It is also available on to wish list on Steam right now.
However, that’s not all for the world of Warhammer 40K. Not by a long shot as the franchise is set for big things. We had rumors of a TV series and that is becoming reality as Amazon is involved with this project. They already have a TV series for Fallout in the works which is in production and they also will be doing a live-action show for God of War. For Warhammer, it’s the name of one of the cast and one of the Executive Producers that has got the fans of the franchise very much excited.
Warhammer 40K And Its Future
The name associated with the Warhammer series was one of its fans. That being Henry Cavil himself and he is also one of the Executive producers. This was just announced and it seems the TV series is not all that’s on the way. According to the press release, this is what was said of the deal with Amazon
Amazon Studios today announced that it has secured global rights to Warhammer 40,000, based on the immensely popular intellectual property from Games Workshop (GAW) that has given rise to an immersive global hobby – Warhammer. The agreement encompasses rights to the universe across series, film, and more, and will sit alongside GAW’s activities as they continue to make the best miniatures in the world. This is the first deal of its kind for Amazon Studios for IP of this scale, and it allows the company to utilize the title across its entertainment businesses. Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) is set to star in and executive produce the Warhammer 40,000 franchise across all Amazon Studios productions.
So it looks like a whole cinematic universe is on the cards as Amazon plans to really focus on the Games Workshop franchise. Bringing on board Henry Cavill could be a wise move.
It’s never been a secret he’s a fan of Warhammer. He spent time during the UK covid lockdown, painting figurines.
He also made no secret about how happy he was over this deal either.
