Back in 2000, a now-considered cult classic was a little-known RPG that was brought to my attention. I tried it and immediately was hooked by the game that was part of the cult- classic Vampire: The Masquerade series, it is also a game that preceded the most recognized game of the series Bloodlines. Let me introduce to you the world of Christof Romuald, and the fun of Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption.
The game takes place across several centuries starting in 12th Century Europe until your character Christof succumbs to the darkness. Players also travel to the likes of 20th Century London and New York. The original game is set in the World of Darkness. For those unaware, it is deemed a dark and Gothic-Punk version of what we know. Hiding in secrecy and influencing our history is a series of supernatural creatures. Supernatural creatures like werewolves and vampires. Vampire: The Masquerade is deemed one of the biggest-selling tabletop RPGs with only Dungeons & Dragons selling more.
Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption is in the process of receiving a remake, albeit in the form of a Skyrim mod. This vampire RPG is a third-person title for the most part with the occasional first-person glimpses. For some reason capturing footage wasn’t working at the time for writing but having played the game dozens of times and currently revisiting it, finding footage was fairly simple.
Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption In The Modern Day
This game looks amazingly decent for being nearly twenty years old. When it launched, it was praised for its visuals, and even today, it holds up. The control system is still fairly fluid and very much playable even today. Even revisiting this game years on, I’m still a fan of this game very much. An official remake would be lovely but for fans of the franchise, we have the Skyrim mod or the recent release of Swansong. As it stands the game holds up very well in 2022. However, would this be a game for you? Did you ever play it? As always, we’d love to hear from you
