In the past years, it is hard to deny that SEGA and Atlus have been on a roll. SEGA has seen so much success in recent years, in large part for its push to stay a multiplatform publisher. As well as deals like Xbox Gamepass giving much-needed new life to older titles, or helping to bring niche titles to wider audiences. This is very strong for ATLUS’s much beloved Persona 5 Royal and the upcoming Persona 5 Tacitca. However, ATLUS had a huge surprise during the recent Nintendo Direct with their new title Unicorn Overlord dominating the battlefield next year.
The newest title coming from ATLUS is actually coming from their Vanillaware subsidiary. The team behind many critically acclaimed titles like Dragon Crown, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and Odin Sphere. The game looks to be a rather stunning stylized anime tactics game much like Fire Emblem. However, many eagle-eyed fans compare it more to ATLUS’ old title Ogre Battle co-published with Square well before they joined SEGA.
A kingdom stolen it is up to a young prince to gather a diverse cast of over 60 characters, to build an army, and take back his destiny. It truly stands to be a stunning Tactical RPG. However, the most surprising part of the announcement came at the end of the video. As Xbox fans will finally get to play a title from Vanillaware. As Unicorn Overlord will be coming to the green machine alongside its fellow gaming hardware brethren. Alongside the announcement came the reveal of a very sleek Collectors edition for fans on the Atlus Shop.

Unicorn Overlord will be launching on Xbox Series X|S, PS4/5, and Nintendo Switch on March 8th, 2024. Tell us are you excited to have a new TRPG with Unicorn Overlord Dominating the headline for next year? Have you played any of Vanillawares’ previous works, let us know down below.
