We talked just over a year ago about different simulation games. More specifically I was posing the deep question “do we need more of them?” In terms of the volume of games depending on your platform there may or may not be a need for them. We know about some main releases coming soon such as Cities Skylines 2. What if we took a deeper look and presented some titles you may or may not know about? Let’s talk about some under the radar simulator game titles.
I did a similar experiment with horror titles though compiling an under-the-radar simulator list is actually easier. This is a genre that has a fair few games always coming out of varying quality. I recently looked at early Hotel Renovater footage before I pre-ordered it and even got to play a little of it as well. It’s harder to decide where to start for this list, not what to include. Without further ado let’s bring some games to your attention:
Hotel Life: A Resort Simulator
This is from the same team who are bringing us Taxi Life and already released Train Life which also just confirmed received a Switch port. They also brought us Chef Life in the past which I gave my first thoughts on not too long ago. In Hotel Life: A Resort Simulator we are tasked with designing. building and running our own hotel resort from the ground up. It’s similar to Hotel Renovater in some respects. Hotel Life is set to come to all consoles and PC this year.
Dreamhouse The Game
If you are a fan of House Flipper this may be worth a look. It’s powered by Unreal Engine 5 and coming to consoles and PC sometime this year. The Xbox Hub says
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Dreamhouse: The Game will see you becoming a novice construction engineer, albeit one with one big dream: to earn enough money to build your dream house with your own hands. From the green shoots of starting your own company and accepting all sorts of orders, from general ruined property renovations to levelling undeveloped land and house foundation excavation, Dreamhouse – The Game will provide you with many projects. These may range from constructing a small hut in the forest to a real hacienda on a sandy beach, and by working the lower levels, once you have earned enough funds and experience, you will finally have the chance to build your very own home from scratch.
Airport Renovater
This is from the developers who gave us Hotel Renovater, Two Horizons. This is set to launch on PC only at this time though we may see a console port like Hotel Renovater. Steam says for the upcoming prologue:
The airport is devastated. It’s up to you to bring it back to the state of usability and beyond! Grab your tools cause the forces of nature have taken over this place. Collect air-dropped loot crates, complete diverse missions, and equip this airport with everything it needs. Go international!
Those are just some of the quality simulator games I looked at and thought were worth paying attention to. The horror games list also included Autopsy Simulator. We have just seen the announcement of the upcoming life simulator Life By You. House Flipper is getting a sequel as well and the original is getting a farm DLC. PC Building Simulator 2 is now out and very much worth a look on PC and the original is on PC and console.
