Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves PS5 Release Details Confirmed

Back in September, we had the most recent PlayStation Showcase which had one Uncharted announcement. This followed the story that the entire collection was PC-bound. However, the reveal at the showcase was close. What we were shown was the trailer for the upcoming Uncharted bundle. This is known as Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. What was interesting with Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves is the games

The games included were just Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and the only game in the series to not feature Nathan Drake which is Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. These were coming first to PlayStation 5 and then PC. Since this was the PC debut for the series, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves was an interesting PC release as it omits the original three games. However, a recent PlayStation Blog post has given more information on the PlayStation 5 release.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves. What we know

The specs for the PC and release date are to be shared later. For the PlayStation 5, the collection will launch fairly soon. They announced a release date of 28th January 2022. The first aspect brought to our attention is the three performance modes.

  • Fidelity Mode – For those of you who have a 4K display and want super sharp resolution above all else to enjoy the stunning environments and details the Uncharted series is known for, select Fidelity Mode and play in native 4K resolution with a 30fps target framerate.
  • Performance Mode – Performance Mode targets a 60 FPS frame rate.
  • Performance+ Mode – If you’re all about the smoothest gameplay possible and don’t mind a resolution drop, try out our first ever Performance+ Mode which targets 120fps at a 1080p resolution.

Naturally, the collection is offering fast load times, the blog claims they are virtually instant. The games support Spatial 3D Audio as well. The DualSense is supported also.

With the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, we’ve fine-tuned the rumble and resistance here: feeling the 4×4 vehicles roll along in your hands or landing a punch and then rope swinging to safety has never been so rewarding.

Pricing and offers

The price point was also revealed in the blog post. If you wish to purchase it as you are new to the series it’s available physically and digitally on PlayStation 5. Regardless of the format, the price is set at £44.99/$49.99/€49.99. Those who own Uncharted 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, or the Digital Bundle with both can upgrade. So the upgrade path is £10/$10/€10 and will be available on the 28th of January. Disc owners need the PlayStation 5 with a disc drive to utilize the upgrade path.

That’s not all you get with purchasing the collection or upgrading. As from now until 3rd February, certain countries can get a voucher for a standard ticket to see the upcoming Uncharted movie. However, this offer is only available to residents of Australia, New Zealand, the UK, or the US. The blog gives more details and a link to the full terms and conditions. But what do you think of this news? We love hearing your thoughts so please get in touch.
