The feeling of watching Unbeatable’s trailers is comparable only to my experiences of the first time watching Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, the performance of “Moon on the Water” in the anime Beck, and the exhilaration of defeating a difficult boss. The reveal trailer raised my hype levels, slowly elevating to a wide-eyed, joy-filled willingness to spend (almost) any amount of money to have more. The trailer presents a world that beautifully blends cyberpunk and anime, viewed through a modern whimsical fantasy lens.
Unbeatable’s Reveal Trailer
I wanted to watch a two-hour movie, a 24-episode anime, and play the game the moment the trailer above ended. Truly stuck on how beautifully put together it was. One minute and 45 seconds of a steady climb towards greatness. Y’all truly need to understand, I am bottom of the garbage can levels of bad at rhythm games. And that did not deter me at all from wanting to experience this game. The world is captivating—seriously, watch the above trailer again. Music is illegal in this world, and that is enough to get me to side with the visually rebellious youth playing rock music. The beginning shows who I assume is the protagonist: gazing into an open field with a girl with blue hair and a cloud-touched blue sky. Then they are abruptly brought back to reality, and to be completely honest, this is when I began to buy into the game. I am a sucker for when stories, no matter how serious, are told with a dash of whimsy and dreaminess.
Seriously, after watching the trailer a few more times, go out and add this rhythm adventure game to your wishlist. According to Wikipedia, this game was funded in 15 hours via Kickstarter, so I am clearly not the only one excited about it. Developed by D-CELL Games and published by Playstack, Unbeatable will be available November 6, 2025, on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
