Unknown X, the developer of the rhythm game Touhou DANMAKU KAGURA Phantasia Lost, which takes place in the Touhou Project universe, has revealed that an updated and expanded version of the game will be made available on the Steam platform in 2023. Additionally, a Nintendo Switch version of the game will be released in the same year.

The Campfire Japanese crowdfunding campaign reached its goal of 15 million yen in 30 minutes. And currently has over 80 million yen pledged and counting. Touhou and Danmaku fans were primarily responsible for this achievement. As a result of the positive response, Unknown X has announced plans to release a Nintendo Switch version of the game in 2023.

“We’re honored by the fan support to continue DANMAKU KAGURA in this new form on Steam and Nintendo Switch, We haven’t just seen support from console and PC rhythm and Touhou fans, but also from players of the mobile version that told us this was the first time they ever paid for a game that wasn’t free-to-play!”

A new theme song by Kishida Kyoudan & THE Akeboshi Rockets x Kayoko Kusano will also be available for the fans. Unknown X will also support more languages and have a Music Cover Art Index. Also a Mitama Card Index for the PC version and a Mitama Card Index for the Nintendo Switch version.

The campaign will run until Monday, January 9, 2023, and additional stretch goals are now available to be met. The beat continues. Future plans include the addition of a brand-new rhythm-action gameplay mode and maybe a physical release for the Nintendo Switch.

Rhythm game players must tap the notes to the beat as they fly down note charts that get progressively more difficult, with boss battles posing a tough challenge in this genre. Take advantage of the controls adapted for use with controllers or keyboard setups. Also, a brand new story mode was written by Jin Fujisawa and Wakano Takeda available only in the PC version.
