Top 5 Budget Switch Games This Week. (08.25.21)

As a collector of physical Switch cartridges, my principles forbid me to buy a digital download for more than $10, so every week I find five great budget Switch games in the Nintendo eShop discounted to $10 or less. (in no particular order.)

This week’s top five:

Ministry of Broadcast $14.99 $5.99
To see his family again, our ginger-haired protagonist has decided to become a contestant on “The Wall Show”, a Regime-organized TV show allowing competitors the opportunity to escape to freedom on the other side. However, as he progresses through the camp, our contestant soon realizes exactly how the Regime and the show operate. The promise of freedom is not exactly what it seems.

Telling Lies $19.99 $7.99
This FMV game starring Logan Marshall-Green and Angela Sarafyan is really, really good. You know I’m a fan of FMV games, so when a good one comes along for under $10, I’m going to put it on this list.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair $29.99 $7.49 (demo available)
This sequel to the first Yooka-Laylee game features more 2D side-scrolling platforming as a loving tribute to games like Donkey Kong Country. There’s a 3D overworld game in itself with separate 2D side-scrolling sub-levels to conquer.

Blasphemous $24.99 $9.99 (demo available)
This is a non-linear rogue-like souls-like combat platformer. If that sounds like a handful, trust me, it is. Blasphemous is punishingly difficult but extremely rewarding to play. Rogue-Like elements allow you to build your hero to suit your play style each and every run, facing new unique challenges along the way.

Devil May Cry $19.99 $9.99
The first appearance of Dante, the ultimate devil hunter! With the blood of a legendary demon warrior flowing through his veins, Dante takes on a mission from the mysterious Trish to travel to Mallet Island and defeat Mundus, the king of the underworld. But this is no ordinary job for Dante, who is also motivated by revenge. Use your sword and dual guns to pull off flashy combos in this classic title which introduced the “stylish action” genre to the world. If you need more action, you can also pick up DMC2 for only $9.99

Honorable Mention:

Kentucky Route Zero $24.99 $14.99 (demo available)
KRZ is a magical realist adventure game in five acts, featuring a haunting electronic score, and bluegrass standards. Rendered in a striking visual style, this is a story of unpayable debts, abandoned futures, and the human drive to find community.

For more great deals, check out last week’s list as many of those games might still be on sale! I’ll be back next week with another list of five great budget Switch games in the Nintendo eShop discounted to $10 or less!
