Top 5 Budget Switch Games This Week. (07.07.21)

As a collector of physical Switch cartridges, my principles forbid me to buy a digital download for more than $10. So every week I find five great budget Switch games in the Nintendo eShop discounted to $10 or less. (in no particular order.)

This week’s top five:

Celeste $19.99 $4.99
I mentioned Celeste last week because it’s easily one of my top-10 games of all time because of crisp platforming, tight controls, fantastic story, heart-pumping soundtrack, and vibrant pixel art. Picking this game up for five dollars is an absolute steal.

The Complex $12.99 $9.74
FMV games have a special place in my heart, and Wales Interactive knocks it out of the park every time. This interactive movie acts like a choose-your-own-adventure story about a team of scientists locked in a laboratory during a bio-weapon attack on London.

Blacksad: Under the Skin $49.99 $5.99
John Blacksad is a noir-style detective on a case of a murdered boxing club owner in 1950’s New York City. There’s a compelling detective story with various game modes from point-and-click investigations, conversation trees, mini-puzzles, and even some QTE (Quick Time Events) that keep the gameplay interesting.

The Takeover $19.99 $6.99
The takeover is a side-scrolling beat-em-up inspired by classic 90’s brawler’s Streets of Rage and Final Fight. Beautiful artwork, vibrant colors, and a wonderful synth-wave soundtrack by Little V Mills, Richie Branson, James Ronald, and industry legend Yuzo Koshiro.

20XX $19.99 $4.59
Did you ever wish Mega-Man was a multiplayer rogue-like? I sure do. This Megaman-inspired platformer has dynamically generated levels, multiple difficulty modifiers, several game modes, and seeded daily and weekly challenges.

Honorable Mention:

Blaster Master Zero 3 $14.99 $11.99 (Pre-Order 07.29.2021)
This is a pre-order, but a deal is a deal. Inti Creates masterfully rebooted the Blaster Master franchise by faithfully recreating the NES classic with modernized controls and graphics. Then they expanded on the game for the sequel, bringing amazing new skills and abilities to the side-scrolling platforming and isometric dungeon-crawling hybrid game. I can’t wait to play the third and final game in this trilogy!

For more great deals, check out last week’s list as many of those games might still be on sale! I’ll be back next week with another list of five great budget Switch games in the Nintendo eShop discounted to $10 or less!
