Top 5 Budget Switch Games This Week. (06.16.21)

As a collector of physical Switch cartridges, my principles forbid me buy a digital download for more than $10, so every week I find five great budget Switch games in the Nintendo eShop discounted to $10 or less. (in no particular order.)

This week’s top five:

Little Nightmares: Complete Edition $29.99 $7.49
Little Nightmares is a horror puzzle/adventure game where you play as Six, a tiny little kid, and escape from The Maw, a mysterious complex filled with horrors and creatures that look like something created by Tim Burton. The Complete Edition contains all the DLC and everything you need to know about the before moving on to Little Nightmares II.

Castlevania Collection Switch

Castlevania Anniversary Collection $19.99 $4.99
A fantastic value at only five dollars for seven classic games from the NES and SNES in this one collection: Castlevania, Castlevania II Simon’s Quest, Castlevania III Dracula’s Curse, Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania The Adventure, Castlevania II Belmont’s Revenge, Castlevania Bloodlines, and Kid Dracula (never released in English before). I tried to play Castlevania III again recently, and it’s so hard. There’s no modern gaming conveniences like momentum-jumps, mid-air directional control, coyote-time, and hitbox forgiveness.

Enter The Gungeon $14.99 $7.49
An essential bullet-hell rouge-like dungeon crawler filled with 80’s nostalgia, and don’t forget tons of puns about guns! (rhyme intended). ETG Is an amazing top-down looter-shooter where you dont know what kinds of weapons you’ll find as you grind your way through the randomly-generated levels to fight the main boss and escape the gungeon!

GRIS $16.99 $6.79
Gris is a casual platformer about loss and grief. There’s no death or violence, except for one “boss fight”; but you can barely call it a boss or a fight. With no pressure or fear, you can move around the world from one area to the next in a beautifully animated landscape with an elegant and serene musical score.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle $59.99 $9.99 (Demo available)
Since Mario + Rabbids 2 was just announced at E3, this is the perfect time to dive into the first game for less than ten dollars. The game plays more like a Rabbids game with Mario characters despite the plot involving Rabbids being transported to the Mushroom Kingdom. At it’s core, Mario + Rabbids a turn-based strategy\tactics game with characters you know from the Nintendo universe.

Honorable Mention:

The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark $12.99 $11.69
I’ve often described this series as “a pixel-art game of The X-files”. You play through this point-and-click adventure as as Detective Francis McQueen of the Twin Peaks Twin Lakes Police Department, solving cases that involve the supernatural. Just like the first game, this sequel boasts several small cases to investigate that all tie together in the overall story; not unlike like episodes in a season of a TV show. If you didn’t play the original Darkside Detective game, you can pick it up right now for only about six dollars.

For more great deals, check out last week’s list as many of those games might still be on sale! I’ll be back next week with another list of five great budget Switch games in the Nintendo eShop discounted to $10 or less!
