Even though they are working on Marvel’s Avengers and other upcoming commitments, Crystal Dynamics hasn’t forgotten the Tomb Raider series. We recently found out they are co-developing the Perfect Dark reboot. This is alongside the Xbox studio The Initiative. As of now, there is no indication to what extent they are involved.

The reboot trilogy was deemed a success. We know that the most recent title received an upgrade to take advantage of the new consoles. However, a recent post on Linkedin indicated a fourth installment could be very much on the way. As the studio is after a lighting artist who can offer plenty of experience working on AAA games
Why this likely to be a Lara Croft project and not Perfect Dark
It’s indeed possible except this particular listing is asking applicants can match the style of the Tomb Raider reboot games. They ask the following
Able to showcase a powerful portfolio with a similar cinematic style to the latest Tomb Raider reboot and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
There is no reference to Shadow in this listing. The reason for this they didn’t develop that game in the trilogy
The history behind a fourth game
We know there is one in the world but at the time wasn’t in development. This statement at the start of the year from Crystal Dynamics game director Will Kerslake was revealing this new game is combining the ideas of the original games with the reboot.
We envision the future of Tomb Raider unfolding after these established adventures. Telling stories that build upon both the breadth of Core Design and Crystal Dynamics’ games, looking to unify these timelines. With Tomb Raider’s extensive history, this is not an easy task.
