Just under three years ago, Ubisoft introduced us to a brand-new IP, Tom Clancy’s XDefiant. As the name suggests, this is another addition to the iconic Tom Clancy series, which has brought us popular games like Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and The Division over the years. Developed by Ubisoft San Francisco, the team behind Rocksmith and South Park: The Fractured but Whole, XDefiant promises an exciting multiplayer experience.

What Is Tom Clancy’s XDefiant?

Tom Clancy’s XDefiant is a free-to-play first-person shooter that combines various elements from different Ubisoft worlds. According to the game’s official website, players can expect the following:

Arena Modes

Teams compete in arena-style maps, battling for territorial control in Domination and Occupy modes. More modes are set to be introduced at launch.

Progression Modes

In Zone Control, attackers and defenders contest shifting objective points, while in Escort, players must push a package.

Diverse Maps

XDefiant features a variety of maps, including locations from popular Ubisoft worlds and brand-new original maps.

When Is Tom Clancy’s XDefiant Releasing?

Originally slated for release at the end of March 2024, Tom Clancy’s XDefiant has been hit with another delay. According to an update from the developers on March 29th, 2024, the game still needs some additional work. To ensure a polished experience, Ubisoft has planned a “12-hour server test session” for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The results of this testing will determine the final release date.

While the beta provided a glimpse into the game’s potential, it was understandably rough around the edges. Fans eagerly await further updates on the official release date, hoping to dive into this exciting new free-to-play shooter from Ubisoft soon.
