Over the past few months, there has been a flurry of news related to the world of the Witcher. Fans are eagerly anticipating a new installment in the series, which is currently being developed in Unreal Engine 5. Additionally, a remake of the first game, also using Unreal Engine 5, is in the works. Last year, the Blood Origin Netflix series premiered, and this summer, Season 3 of the main Witcher series will air on Netflix. Furthermore, fans can look forward to the next-gen version of Wild Hunt.

Amidst all this content, there is yet another project to be excited about. This project, codenamed Sirius, is unrelated to the fourth game or the remake of the first game. However, details regarding this exciting development are still scarce.

CDPR On Sirius

A report has gone out by CD Projekt Red stating “The Management Board of CD PROJEKT S.A. with its registered seat in Warsaw (“Company”) hereby announces its decision regarding the establishment in the Company’s books of an impairment allowance with regard to expenses incurred in the scope of development work related to Project Sirius, which is under development at The Molasses Flood studio. The value of expenses incurred by the end of 2022 amounts to 33.4 million PLN and will burden the financial results of the Company and the CD PROJEKT Group for the year 2022. The value of expenses incurred in January and February 2023 amounts to 9.5 million PLN and will accordingly burden the financial results for the first quarter of 2023”.

Also said is the “aforementioned decision is based on results of evaluation of the scope and commercial potential of the original concept of Project Sirius, and ongoing work on formulating a new framework for this project.”.

So What Does This Mean For The Witcher Project Sirius

It’s really hard to say what is to come, this is according to NME a spin-off multi-player title in the Witcher universe. Though CDPR could be expanding the project as it’s already cost a considerable amount more. However, another train of thought feels they could have completely rebooted the project. It wouldn’t be unusual. We saw a few reboots for both Dead Island 2 and Skull and Bones. Dead Island 2 is also out in a month’s time. This may take some time before we get full answers.
