CD Projekt Red previously stated a couple of games could be delayed. This was via a results call with investors. Games affected potentially were The Witcher 3 upgrade as well as the upgrade for Cyberpunk 2077. However, news has been found indicating we could see it sooner than anticipated.
Gematsu found this on the PEGI website which lists the release history and ratings for the game of the year edition for The Witcher 3. What we have is information on The Witcher 3 upgrade for both PlayStation 5 as well as Xbox Series X/S
What PEGI says for The Witcher 3 upgrade
It gives us the usual advice for consumers and outlines the game as well as content issues. Nothing that won’t be known already as it’s out on multiple systems. It’s the release dates that prove interesting
- 30/08/2016 – PC
- 08/10/2019 – Nintendo Switch
- 19/10/2021 – PlayStation 5
- 19/10/2021 – Xbox Series X/S
The 2016 release also applies to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. History shows that when they launched. The Nintendo Switch version says 8th October. However, that launched on the 15th so a week on. The Witcher 3 upgrade for new consoles lists 19th October. The only problem is that’s today. With no announcement of any release that’s unlikely unless it’s a sudden digital-only release. But there will be a physical release and stores need time to receive stock sort preorder allocations out and ship for release. They could plan a release with the new TV show-inspired DLC which is the last public announcement on The Witcher 3 upgrade. And we know Season 2 is on Netflix on 17th December.
