Hot on the heels of the news of the remake of the first Witcher game, we have more Witcher news. We know the next-gen versions of the most recent CD Projekt games are on the way. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt’s next-gen upgrade has an update. The bad news is it’s not dropping the day it’s being discussed like Cyberpunk 2077. However, the good news is that the release window is definitely going to be met.

The Ukraine and Russia war and CD Projekt Red’s reluctance to have a Russian production team handle this may have led them to switch the development of the update in-house, which is why the Witcher 3 next-gen upgrade was delayed, according to rumors at the time. Of course, nothing has been said to corroborate or refute this, so it is only a rumor. It would clarify the hold-up.

The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Upgrade Release Information

The wait is close to over thanks to an update they posted on the game’s official Twitter account. So let’s look at the news on Twitter.

We finally have a release date of next month. The 14th of December to be exact. Meaning we are pretty much a month away. We also have a live stream next week with more details and gameplay.

As the official website states it’s a free upgrade.

The next-gen update is free for everyone who already owns any version of the game. For those who don’t have the game yet, a dedicated next-gen version, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, featuring all enhancements, free DLCs and story expansions: Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine, will be available for purchase digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a physical release at a later date.
