It is safe to say that after a rather tumultuous first trailer; and a massive redesign that the Sonic movie was absolutely loved. It was well-received by fans for its campy nature and fun-filled story. Not to mention that the humor and animation were top-notch! But SEGA fans were eagerly waiting for a sequel after an after-credits scene teased the introduction of Tails. But, leading up to their TGA appearance excitement built; as it was revealed that Idris Elba would also be appearing and voicing, Sonics’ enemy turned ally, Knuckles the Echidna. And the Sonic 2 movie trailer hit hard with Knuckles’ introduction!

The day before the TGAs the official SEGA Twitter released the movie poster for Sonic 2. However, fans noticed that a certain red character was missing. But it looks like those fears were quickly dissolved on the day of the TGAs. After a rather hilarious skit with Ben Swhartz and Jim Carrey, the trailer was shown to all. And it captured the same sense of fun and quirkiness of the first film. But what left everyone stunned was how badass Knuckles came onto the scene. And with the way that Idris Elba captured his persona, I don’t think anyone has any complaints.

Having been hailed as the best live-action adaption of a video game, the sequel has a lot to live up to! And with a new open-world game coming as well, it’s fair to say that Sonic is back!

You can watch the full Sonic 2 movie trailer below. The movie is set to release on April 8th, 2022.
