Just a few months ago, we had a special Konami showcase bringing big news. This was the Silent Hill Transmission, which was naturally full of announcements for the iconic franchise. One of these titles that was eagerly awaited and, at the time, heavily rumored was a Silent Hill 2 Remake. The team responsible for bringing us a new entry in one of gaming history’s most iconic franchises is Bloober Team. If the name isn’t familiar, then you may recognize their most recent game, The Medium. Other titles included in the showcase were Silent Hill Ascension, Silent Hill Townfall, and Silent Hill F, as well as a sequel to the original Silent Hill movie. Though the title we want to focus on today is called Silent Hill: The Short Message.
Silent Hill: The Short Message is a title you may not be familiar with, but don’t worry, you are most likely not the only one unsure of the name. The reason for this is that it wasn’t part of the showcase event back in October. The question is: what is this game about, and why is it being talked about now? Especially as Konami have said nothing about it and it was omitted from the recent live stream.
What We Know About Silent Hill: The Short Message
Very little is known, as Konami has not even announced this game or spoken much about it at all. The information we have comes from the rating board in Taiwan. This was also how the first concrete news of The Ascent for PlayStation 5 appeared. The recent Grand Theft Auto Trilogy remasters received a rating in Taiwan before being announced, so this isn’t unusual. A screenshot of the rating was captured by Gematsu and can be found below

We also have a description of the game from the ratings listing, again captured by Gematsu
Anita came to an abandoned apartment in order to meet her friend Maya, and somehow woke up to find herself trapped in it. She must escape her own fears and the monsters lurking in the corridors, discover the truth behind the events she’s trapped in, and try to escape before her own trauma consumes her will to survive.
As of yet, we have no official news, yet it has a rating for what seems to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Until then, we can only wait. As always, what do you make of this news? Why not get in touch and share your thoughts?
