Supermassive Games are pretty big in the world of horror games. Although they may not be giving you an experience like Resident Evil or a Silent Hill they will still deliver shocks. Maybe not of the stomach-turning level of Scorn either. So what they excel at is delivering a horror with a very strong player-led focus. Meaning what you decide can alter the game significantly. The newest release The Quarry looks set to follow that direction.
The Quarry is classed as a spiritual successor to Until Dawn. This launched in 2015 and was one of their earliest big releases. It was their horror debut and a success.. They since launched the Dark Pictures Anthology with the first three titles available and now have this upcoming release. June will keep you busy as it’s launching on the 10th of June with 186 unique endings. It is very likely to launch on time as the game has gone gold.
The Quarry Going Gold. What This Means
We have confirmation from Supermassive Games. So to quickly explain what this means. Games go through alpha and beta stages before a final build is ready which is when the game goes gold. It means the game can be submitted to Microsoft and Sony. This is what allows the game to be uploaded to the Xbox and PlayStation stores. Also, it can now be printed onto physical media.
Naturally, work will continue as they tweak and improve various aspects. These are what likely end up as a day one patch. So with that June date locked in and unlikely to need moving, will you be jumping in? Did you enjoy Until Dawn and the Dark Pictures Anthology? If so, we’d love to hear from you. If you are a fan then keep watching as the focus could be switching back to the Dark Pictures Anthology, with the developers looking for more staff. Though take this very lightly as it could be to replace staff moving on or for any number of reasons.
