Red Barrels, the developer behind the Outlast franchise, is set to release the third installment in the series, titled The Outlast Trials. The first game, Outlast, was initially released on PC in 2013 and on consoles the following year. In 2017, a sequel was released, and fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the third game. Unlike its predecessors, The Outlast Trials will be a four-player co-op horror title. The game is scheduled to enter early access soon.
You can now add The Outlast Trials to your wishlist on both Steam and the Epic Store before its early access launch on May 18th. This upcoming game is reported to be a prequel to the events featured in the previous two installments of the series. Some of you may have even had the opportunity to play the closed beta last year. Please check out the early access announcement trailer provided below.
The Outlast Trials And What To Expect
On the official Steam page, the game is described as being set in the era of the Cold War, where human guinea pigs are involuntarily recruited by the Murkoff Corporation to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control. In this world of distrust, fear, and violence, players’ morals will be challenged, their endurance tested, and their sanity crushed – all in the name of progress, science, and profit. While the game can be played solo, it is also designed to be played with up to four players. The trailer suggests that players should work together to survive Murkoff’s Trials.
