The Outlast Trials pushed out a huge update on October 21, which includes two new MK-Challenges, Program Geister’s return, a limited-time catalog, and a new in-game store that has new exclusive threads, DLC packs, and catalogs from previous events. The biggest addition that came with the update is the new and permanent Invasion Experimental Therapy mode.

The new Invasion mode brings a new twist to the trials, introducing a PvP element to the game. Players will now be able to join a trial as a Reagent or as an Imposter; however, there are a limited number of imposters that can wreak havoc on players’ trials. While an Imposter is actively playing, other imposters that are waiting for their turn to cause mayhem can actively support the imposter in play by feeding them information and pinging targets. Each imposter will have the opportunity to invade players’ trials; either the imposter succeeds in sabotaging the trial, or they die a brutal death.
The only goal of the imposter is to figure out where the Reagents are located, sneak up on them, and show them the business end of their knife. Imposters have a limited amount of time to accomplish their mission or risk death by electrocution, along with a time penalty, which is applied to the imposter before their next respawn. Ultimately, Imposters are rated based off of how much damage they’ve done to Reagents, how many they’ve killed, and whether or not they make it out alive.

The limited-time event, Geister, is a two-part event that started on October 21 and runs until November 4. The second part of the event begins on the same day that part one ends and continues until November 18. The event kicks the intensity up a notch with unique modifiers like no player names, enraged enemies, and an increase of imposters joining the trials. The added brutality allows players the opportunity to earn event tokens, which can be spent on special limited-time items. While the imposter mode is here to stay, you’ve only got until November 18 to get your fill of the Geister event.

The Outlast Trials is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and Steam.
