After being given a PlayStation 5 from a good friend last year, I have slowly dipped my toes into some of the de facto freebies that the console offered. Such as Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero (which I have fallen in love with even a year later). HoYoverse (previously called MiHoyo) has been expanding into more genres as of late, though. Not just with Honkai Nexus Anima but now with an Animal Crossing-like game called Petit Planet.

As someone who is a fan of HoYoverse due to their lengthy support of their titles through quality updates. Seeing them expand out into newer, cuter horizons that have a broader and cozier appeal is a welcome sight. But is Petit Planet worth keeping your eye on? Well, yes and no for specific reasons.
What you Should Expect with Petit Planet
As its debut gameplay trailer showcased, Petit Planet is going to be a cozy life-sim game. It has very soft yet vibrant colors with warm tones woven in the music. Not to mention all the little showcases of different planets to cruise onto, making it a space-faring adventure on top of the Animal Crossing influences.
It looks really cute, with a focus on just having fun and exploring each planet along the way. A very welcome shift in tone from their marquee titles. As someone who has played their titles, HoYoverse will support a game like this with lovingly crafted updates filled with many events and other things to do between each major patch.
But, as with their marquee titles, they do host a gacha gambling system. It is unknown currently if Petit Planet will make a pivot away from this to more player-friendly practices, but that is something to be wary of leading up to its beta. So, you should keep your eye on this game due to its cute and cozy appeal. The monetization may not be for everyone.
If you would like to sign up for the beta to see what it is like, you can find a link to the official site to do so here!
