After a long month of Xbox gamers showing disapproval to the snub of Starfield as a game of the year nominee and the infamous “Xbox Tax” accusation, The Game Awards has come and gone, and the conversation has finally shifted. They were leaving a trail of goodies for the gaming community all night. Here is a quick recap of all things Xbox news.
Hellblade 2 Trailer Is Impressive
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was the most impressive showing of the night of all the announcements, world premiers, and trailers. The latest trailer showed off the combat for the first time and looks visceral. The quality of resolution and realism in the graphics have not lessened over time but seem to show more polish. Character models are not supposed to look this great. The trailer looks fantastic and reveals several different gorgeously crafted environments that Senua will encounter throughout the game.
Hellblade Two looks like a Game Of The Year contender crafted by the talented developers behind the award-winning Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice at Ninja Theory. We are still awaiting a confirmed release date; however, it will be released sometime in 2024.
Marvel Blade Comes To the Xbox at The Game Awards
The biggest surprise and possibly the night’s loudest buzz came from Marvel’s Blade announcement trailer. A 3rd person, single-player action adventure with a mature edge with the Daywalker sounds like just what the platform is missing. The fantastic team at Arkane Lyon, who has brought the gaming world the Dishonored franchise and also the critically acclaimed and award-winning Deathloop, will develop the game. Many have said that the Xbox catalog is missing a superhero game; however, a Blade exclusive will satisfy that need for gamers hungry for a comic book-driven game. The game will feature the half-man, half-vampire Eric Brooks as he blazes a trail through the heart of Paris to give the citizens hope and rid the streets from vampiric terrors.
There is confusion about whether the game is exclusive to the Xbox platform. Hopefully, we will know more soon and receive clear information because the best play is for total exclusivity. Gamers who support Xbox will get to play this blockbuster addition to the game lineup no matter what, so it’s a big win. Marvel’s Blade is early in development.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Wins The Game Awards GOTY, Releases on Xbox
Not only did Baldur’s Gate 3 snag the coveted Game of The Year award, but the collector’s edition trailer showed Xbox Series X/S versions of the game. Following that, Baldur’s Gate 3 was shadow-dropped to the Xbox marketplace. Reportedly, Larian Studios’s CEO forgot to make the announcement. For months, gamers on the green side have waited to play this masterpiece. Winners of six TGA awards (Game of the Year, Best RPG, Best Community Support, Player’s Voice, Best Multiplayer, Best Performance), Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available on Xbox Series X/S, so get ready to embark on a legendary journey in gaming.
Hideo Kojima reveals OD. And Jordan Peele Collab.
The annual Hideo Kojima sighting at the Video Game Awards was slightly different this year. Most expectations were that viewers could get an update on the sequel, Death Stranding 2; however, the legendary Kojima showed up to share a very life-like trailer for the upcoming Xbox game, OD. I don’t know what I witnessed with a Kojima game. The trailer revealed some real-life visuals of different stages of emotions—an awe-inspiring feat that came off as eerie and horrific. Shortly after, Jordan Peele joined Kojima on stage to reveal that he was collaborating with him on this project. Kojima also revealed that he has other legends working on this horror project, which he calls the “Avengers.” OD is quickly one of the most mysterious yet impressive projects under development for Xbox.
