Turkey wasn’t the only hot dish served this past Thanksgiving. Techland, the makers of Dying Light, just cooked up a holiday treat for Dying Light: The Beast with a meaty update that includes a New Game Plus mode, an expansion to the Legend Levels, Ray Tracing, and a bunch more.

The biggest change that came with this latest update to Dying Light: The Beast is the addition of a New Game Plus mode. In New Game Plus, players can replay Kyle’s story with all of the gear, weapons, and character progression from their previous playthrough. Obviously, the enemy difficulty increases, but so does the loot, with higher-tier weapons and other graded loot. What’s even better is that the New Game Plus mode can be completed multiple times, with each run increasing the difficulty, along with access to stronger and rarer weapons.
Techland also decided to go in and expand its Legend Levels. The Legend Levels is the endgame progression system that expands the main skill tree. When players hit level fifteen, XP earned after is converted into Legendary XP. Legendary XP can be used on passive upgrades like increased health, improved combat stats, and stronger Beast Mode performance.
The 1.4 update was widely influenced by the community feedback that Techland received. Techland continues to utilize community feedback through a multitude of platforms to focus on what’s important to the community, allowing the studio to focus on features players are most passionate about. This round included refining gameplay and fixing issues based on their inputs. Over two hundred parkour and environment navigation issues have been resolved, making for a smoother playing experience.
Techland couldn’t do a major update without putting some of the focus on visuals! Ray Tracing on PC has been added, making the lighting, shadows, and reflections more realistic, immersing players even deeper into the world of Castor Woods. The team also focused their efforts on squashing visual bugs, resolving over 70 graphical issues, including textures, floating assets, clipping, and misaligned architecture.
Dying Light: The Beast 1.4 update brings fresh content to the game that new and old players will enjoy. The replayability of New Game Plus and the addition of the expanded League Levels make for a great time to try out or jump back into Dying Light: The Beast.
