Monorail Stories Review – Synchronicity of Relaxation and Tension Dead Space Remake Gameplay Trailer is Here! Gamevice Flex Launching October 25th Overwatch Is Officially Dead Funtasia Review. A Hard But Addictive 2D Racer

One series we’ve covered a fair amount recently is the franchise that led to games like SOMA or Bioshock.  That is the 1994 classic System Shock which in turn got a sequel a few years later.  The rights to the original game and the sequel are owned by Nightdive Studios.  However the third is in the hands of Tencent as we recently told you.  All is not lost as the franchise still lives in the form of the System Shock remake which Nightdive Studios said at Gamescom is coming soon.  On Steam, we can play the System Shock remake demo.  Being a fan of the franchise with the second game especially being remembered fondly, that’s exactly what I did

The recent Gamescom interview with IGN we heard how what the remake is what they would have given us nearly thirty years ago had the technology exists.  They are recreating the feel of the original game and giving it a completely fresh look.  For those new to the game, it will look brand-new. On the other side, those familiar with the game will feel very much at home.  Below is a video comparing what the game looked like and how it translates in 2022.

System Shock Remake And How It Feels

As soon as I started playing the demo, I was transported back to 1994. It brought back memories and appeared both very new and extremely familiar. The planned remake of the game successfully captures the mood and feel of the original. This updated version shines considerably more now that the original’s experience has been carried over. Although there are some sharp edges, it is generally easy to play; however, this is not the finished product. Since it is still a demo, adjustments are being made.

So, let’s have a look at some of the gameplay from the Steam demo release. The demo does feature controller support as well. It will be fairer to judge when the full release is available, but needless to say the demo makes me feel very positive about the final product. I came away feeling like it was System Shock but how I imagined it all those years ago. Which for me is why I am optimistic about the game’s launch.

However, what is your take on this game? Are you a fan of the original release from 1994 or are you just hearing about this franchise?  We do know the remake is due on console and PC as we told you when it made an appearance at Gamescom last week.
