Annapurna Interactive and BlueTwelve Studio are keeping us waiting on the release for Stray. Prior to them confirming it’s still on track for 2022, we had heard very little. We did get a better look at the game and more information on the feline adventures back in July 2021. Yes, that’s right, feline. Therefore our character is a cat. And for those wanting a reminder, here’s some gameplay.
We had been told back then about a release window of early 2022. Now entering the second quarter of the year and no further news has appeared. Both BlueTwelve Studio and Annapurna are fairly quiet in regards to a release schedule. However, we do hear stories about a games age rating being found. Could this happen again?
Could Stray Release Information Be On The Way
Thanks to information from South Korea, there is a glimmer of hope that the answer is yes. But how could this be relevant? Gematsu posted that they had rated the game.
From the translation on the rating, the rating was applied for on the 5th of April. The game is listed as suitable for 12 and above and the reasons given are:
An adventure game in which a cat who reads a path in the underworld finds its way and finds sunlight
Violence (expression of minor violence)
There is expression of minor violence in battle with non-humanoid creatures
Drug (expression of mild drugs)
Mild such as depiction of a bottle of alcohol in a bar There is an expression of drugs.
Therefore, in accordance with Article 21 of the Game Industry Promotion Act and Article 7, No. 2 of the rating classification regulations, it was decided to classify it as ‘Available for use by the age of 12’.
So it does seem the game is heading one step closer to launch. Though it doesn’t guarantee any announcement soon, it does suggest we are closer to release date information than we were a few days ago even.
