Staying Active While Gaming

First and foremost I’m not a medical professional these are things I do to trick myself into staying active and semi-healthy. Look gamers have a bad rap for being out of shape and very unhealthy. I am one of the people who add to that but I am working on it. Slowly but surely working towards a healthier lifestyle. Now for me, I have to trick myself into working out (maybe I need to go get hypnotized). Otherwise, it’s not happening because I will come up with every excuse not to do it.

In the beginning, a health expert somewhere on this rock floating through the universe said something about not being able to outwork a bad diet. They were telling the truth, this has been a struggle point for me. I wait till my stomach is calling out enemy locations to decide to eat. Then because I did not prepare food in advance fast food usually becomes the go-to meal option. Lord knows it’s not going to be something my nutritionist would be proud of me eating. What am I going to do about that? More quick healthier options in the fridge. Salad mix, Pink Lady Apples (my favorite), and even protein drinks are a few things to help me when I decide to last-minute eat.

Now on to the active part and the whole reason you are here. If you can afford and safely use it get a stationary bike. Not one of those supermassive gym-quality ones either. Just make sure that it can support your weight and you can quickly set it up also, move it out of your way. Here is the one I bought and currently use. The trick is to ride for 30 minutes to an hour while playing your favorite video game or catching up on your shows. You don’t focus so much on the act of working out while still clearing up daily events for your game. It’s a two-for-one deal, being physically active while playing video games.

The free option to this is to add in some movements while gaming. If you are able to, stand up and sit down 5 to 10 times during load screens or before a match starts. For every hour of gaming take a break and move around for a few minutes. Just work on moving more than usual. If you want to get more extreme you could add workouts to your gaming sessions. Lost a Halo Infinite Ranked match that’s 10 pushups, for example.

The reason I bring this up is honestly my love for gaming and the joy it brings others. If I can work in some physical activities with my gaming time it’s a win-win. Health is XP, gold, wealth, or something wise sounding like that. Now I am going to go drink some water and eat a meal that has veggies. I’m in no way shape or form a medical professional just a fellow gamer who is trying to be a little healthier. So hopefully this helps a bit so we can all keep gaming for a long time.
