Bethesda announced Starfield, an ambitious RPG, back in 2018. At the time, it was expected to be released on both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. It was later confirmed that it would not be coming to PlayStation after Microsoft purchased ZeniMax, a deal that included Bethesda and was completed early last year.
Gamers were met with big news today from Bethesda that has affected the Starfield release date and also the release date for Redfall which was also due.
What Changed With Starfield And Redfall
Bethesda posted an announcement on Twitter that both Starfield and Redfall were delayed until next year.
We’ve made the decision to delay the launches of Redfall and Starfield to the first half of 2023. The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.
Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long to see full gameplay. Next month is the Microsoft and Bethesda showcase. So that’s where we might see them in action. With a major Xbox release pushed out of the holiday season, what the Xbox family has planned is an open question.
It seems a lot was riding on this upcoming Bethesda RPG and it’s now coming in the first half of 2023. So what game could replace it this holiday season. Could we see Hellblade 2 launching maybe or an unknown IP waiting in the wings?
